Stunning, pristine, precious – all apt descriptions of the @naturparkdiemtigtal! The nature park in the #BerneseOberland is formed of the two municipalities #Diemtigen and #Zweisimmen… but that’s not all! The #Seebergsee, the picturesque lake that you can see in this photo taken by @paratrick, is also found there. What’s more, the park is known for its distinctive valley end, characteristic pre-Alpine landscape and thriving tradition and culture. Did you know, for example, that #DiemtigtalValley is the most important Alpine farming community in Switzerland? There are 140 Alpine farms situated there, to be precise, with more than 10,000 cattle, sheep, goats and horses – wow! Exquisite Alpine cheeses, some of which are AOC-certified, are produced at around 60 of these farms – and if that doesn’t get your taste buds tingling, the Diemtigtal Nature Park offers satisfaction of a different kind, being ideal for excursions and hikes by the water, past quaint wooden houses and to the Seebergsee 🙂
What do Albert Einstein, James Joyce and German composer Richard Wagner have in common? They all spent part of their lives in #Zurich. They were avid admirers of the city, as countless visitors from all over the world have been for centuries. Looking at the photo taken by @andreaweisflog, that’s hardly surprising, though, is it? The photo shows Zurich’s old town, or more precisely, the #Neumarkt restaurant and the #Grimmenturm tower. Next time you’re in Zurich, you should definitely spend some time wandering the nearby streets. A good way of doing that is by joining one of the popular guided tours by @visitzurich. They will take you through the historic old town and give you an insight into the city’s eventful history. Did you know that throughout Zurich there are an incredible 1,200 water and drinking fountains? Few cities in the world have more! So next time you visit, don’t forget to bring a water bottle. You can fill it up with clean, fresh drinking water at any of the fountains. Great, don’t you think?
Sunset goals! Who wouldn’t want to end the day like this? Too right! Fronalpstock in the Canton of Schwyz offers a stunning 360° panorama that’s a cut above the rest: with views of the #Glärnisch, #Tödi, #UriRotstock, #Pilatus, #Weissenstein, #Vosges and even both #Mythen mountains. The impressive #view even stretches to the #Rütli, #ReussValley in Uri and #Lucerne. How to get there: From Schwyz, you can travel on the #StoosBahn, the world’s steeeeeepest funicular railway. The train takes you directly to the #Stoos holiday village at some 1,300 metres. The chairlift then takes you up to 1,922 metres above sea level to #Fronalpstock. On the top you can enjoy the wonderful views from the panorama restaurant as well as embark on the 1.5-kilometre trail around the summit. And if you’re so captivated that you never want to leave, you can even stay overnight here. We totally understand 😉 Thanks for the photo, @naomimeran.
